One spring day, I went to a small Italian café on Tremont Street in Boston. I enjoyed the food and the simple, pleasant atmosphere that the owners, two Italian women, created. It quickly became my regular escape from the chaos outside. But what really attracted me was the art on the wall. There were photographs of Carnival revelers in fabulous costumes posing on the streets of Venice, Italy. It was the first time I had ever seen something so seemingly unreal in a photograph. It left an impression on me that I would never forget. I would stare at them and wonder how you could capture such magic. Could that be real in today's pace and society? I made a promise to myself to find out. The Ice Hotel slideshow (also linked above) shows the more "artsy" images from that trip. I'm currently working on a second Ice Hotel slideshow that documents my Ice Hotel experience with supporting text. It will be accessible from the Series and Places links below once completed.
